Position Summary

The Clinical Medical Assistant Instructor is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering engaging instruction for the didactic portion of the Clinical Medical Assistant program.

The instructor will help students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors needed to become competent entry-level medical assistants and prepare for national certification.

Some laboratory sessions may be taught by a designated laboratory instructor. The CMA Instructor remains responsible for classroom instruction, student communication, grading, academic progress, and overall course progression.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the curriculum according to the approved syllabus and school catalog.

  • Prepare lesson plans, assignments, quizzes, examinations, and learning activities.

  • Teach clinical medical assisting concepts using current industry standards and best practices.

  • Prepare students for the NHA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification examination.

  • Evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback.

  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student records.

  • Contact students regarding absences and communicate concerns to the Program Director.

  • Encourage student engagement, retention, and academic success.

  • Maintain professionalism in all classroom interactions.

  • Participate in faculty meetings, graduation ceremonies, and required school activities.

  • Perform additional instructional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Required License or Certification

Applicants must currently hold at least one of the following:

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, CCMA

  • Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN

  • Registered Nurse, RN

Preferred Experience

  • One or more years of teaching or classroom training experience.

  • Two years of teaching experience preferred.

  • Three to five years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, LPN, or RN.

  • Experience preparing students for national certification examinations preferred.

  • Strong communication and technology skills for virtual instruction.

Schedule

  • Monday through Wednesday: 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM

  • Thursday: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

  • Four-month virtual didactic program

  • Some laboratory sessions may be conducted by a designated lab instructor

Compensation

  • Independent Contractor, 1099

  • $3,200 per four-month instructional cohort

  • Paid at $800 per month during the instructional period

Position Summary

The Nurse Aide Lab & Clinical Instructor is responsible for preparing students for success in the South Carolina Nurse Aide Competency Exam and during their clinical experience.

This position is needed during the final three weeks of each Nurse Aide class and includes laboratory instruction and clinical supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Teach all required Nurse Aide laboratory skills according to state regulations.

  • Prepare students to perform the skills required for the South Carolina Nurse Aide Competency Exam.

  • Demonstrate proper patient care techniques using current industry best practices.

  • Evaluate student competency and provide constructive coaching and feedback.

  • Supervise students during clinical rotations at Seneca Health and Rehabilitation Center.

  • Mentor students as they provide resident care while maintaining patient safety and professionalism.

  • Maintain accurate attendance, skills checklists, evaluations, and required documentation.

  • Create a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

  • Ensure students follow infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and facility policies during clinical experiences.

Qualifications

Required Education

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Graduate of an approved Practical Nursing or Registered Nursing program

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Active South Carolina LPN or RN license

  • Current CPR certification

  • Current two-step TB or PPD test

  • Current physical examination

Experience

  • Two years of LPN or RN experience required.

  • One year of teaching, training, or classroom instruction experience preferred.

  • Two or more years of teaching experience preferred.

  • Two to three years of healthcare experience.

  • Five or more years of healthcare experience preferred.

  • Long-term care or skilled nursing experience is highly desirable.
